Direct-trade commodity sourcing means buying specialty commodities directly from producers and cooperatives at origin, without traditional intermediaries. Collective Genesis facilitates these direct relationships while providing the verification, logistics, and payment infrastructure that both parties need. Producers get fair prices based on measurable quality, and buyers get full transparency into origin, processing, and quality data.
What types of commodities does Collective Genesis support?

What is the minimum lot size for trading?
We offer flexible lot sizes starting from single-bag samples (typically 1-5 kg for evaluation) up to full container loads (FCL). Most of our standard lots range from 30 kg to 300 kg bags, with full containers available for larger buyers.
How are cupping scores determined?
Every lot is cupped by at least two independent, SCA-certified Q-graders following the standard 100-point protocol. Scores are averaged, and the full breakdown of all 10 attributes (fragrance/aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance, uniformity, clean cup, sweetness, overall) is published.
How does milestone-based payment work?
When you purchase a lot, payments are released at three pre-agreed milestones: 30% deposit upon contract signing, 50% when the Bill of Lading is issued confirming shipment departure, and the final 20% upon confirmed delivery and warehouse receipt at destination. Both buyer and seller can track milestone status in real time on the platform.
What quality certifications does Collective Genesis verify?
Collective Genesis verifies multiple quality certifications including SCA cupping scores (minimum 84 points for listing), ISO 17025-accredited lab analysis (moisture content, water activity, density, screen size, defect counts), organic certifications (USDA, EU), Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance. How does lot traceability work?

Yes. Every listed lot has a sample option. Samples ship from our regional warehouses and are accompanied by the same cupping data and traceability information as the full lot. Sample costs are credited toward your full lot purchase.
